The removal of tens of thousands of reports and documents from the USDA website about animals in zoos, puppy mills, lab testing facilities, and more was a huge blow for advocates and the animals themselves.
If your senator has not signed the letter asking the USDA to restore the animal welfare reports that were abruptly taken off the website last week or otherwise spoken out against it, they need to hear from you. Animals have no voice, we have to speak up for them.
Steps:
- Locate your senators on the list below. See if they have signed the letter or otherwise asked the USDA to repost the information.
- If they have NOT, use the contact information listed on their website (links provided) to call or email.
– Script:
Hi I live in ____ (name of state). I’m a constituent of ____ (name of Senator). I’m calling to say that I’m unhappy that the USDA removed all the animal welfare reports from its website. Removing the reports will protect puppy mill operators and makes it harder for the current laws and regulations about puppy mills to be enforced. I want the Senator to publicly ask the USDA to repost the information.

polite. First of all, it’s the right thing to do and secondly the legislator might actually agree with your position, he or she just hasn’t made it a priority. That’s why you’re calling to say that you want him or her to make it a priority!
