We had the pleasure of visiting Rude Ranch Animal Rescue in Harwood, Maryland to get a few photos of a recently famous kitty. Stephanie was the cat responsible for closing a Glen Burnie elementary school on August 29, 2014. Deemed a “feral cat” on sight, the students were evacuated and Anne Arundal Animal Control was called to trap this little lady. Stephanie was eventually transferred to Rude Ranch for some R&R.
The school closing got a lot of media attention—and was an opportunity to publicly discuss the county’s policy for community cats.
Stephanie is the little torti, still scared from her weekend back to school—many of the other cats are available for adoption.
